No Speed Limit

News for Car Enthusiasts

Audi has announced a pair of new common-rail diesel engines that will join the A3 and A3 Sportback lineups. The most powerful variant of the 1.6-liter TDi produces 105HP and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque, and is combined with Audi’s new start and stop, and energy recovery systems. With this engine the A3 sprints from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 11.4 seconds and reached a top speed of 194 km/h (121mph) while consuming on average 4.1 liters of diesel per 100km (57.37 US mpg). This equates to 109 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

There’s also a 90HP version of the 1.6-liter TDi that propels the A3 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 12.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 180km/h (112 mph). This model, which does not feature the start/stop system or energy recovery, has a higher average consumption of 4.5 l/100 km (52.27 US mpg) with CO2 emissions of 118 grams per kilometer.

The A3 1.6 TDI is available for order in Europe with the basic price for the 90HP version set at €22,550 and for the 105HP model at €23,550. Those who opt for the 5-door Sportback model will be charged an extra €900.

I hope this is the right area to post this in…but does anyone have an engine schematic for the W202 2.8 Liter V6?

Just curious if one is available :D

Edit:

Should have googled first. Found the ‘M112′ engine cut away here:

Supercharger boosts power to 600bhp

Tuned Maseratis aren’t a common sight, and it might come as even more of a surprise to know that there’s a company dedicated to upgrading vehicles bearing the trident badge. Stetten, Germany-based Novitec is an Italian-car modifier with arms specializing in Ferrari, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and of course Maserati. The firm’s "Novitec Tridente" group made its debut with a modified Quattroporte in 2007, and for 2009 it has revealed a sexier, supercharged GranTurismo S.
The supercharger plus upgrades to the ECU and exhaust system of the 4.7 liter V8 bring the power to 600bhp. A 160-horse increase over stock is foolhardy without comparable upgrades to the running gear, of course, so Novitec Tridente adds a KW/Novitec suspension and staggered NM3 five-spoke wheels measuring 20×9 up front and 21×12.5 at the rear.

The new Golf R20 is making some quick laps at the Nürburgring racetrack disguised as a 2.0 TDI. But they can’t fool us, not with those two big central mounted exhaust pipes. While the R32 had a six cylinder engine with 250 horsepower, the new R20 will have a version of the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with direct injection which will be tuned to produce 270 horsepower. That should be enough to let the R20 accelerate up to 100 km/h in the low five seconds range.

To stop the car is as important as power, and this prototype has the same brakes as the Audi S3 which will be enough for this power rabbit. Both 3- and 5-door versions will be available but we expect the 3-door version to come first.

Expect a more aggressive front bumper when the R20 will have its debut, rumors says it will be in May at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

Kiazera: Kia VG concept leaked

So, what happens when you build a Kia based on the Azera’s architecture? You get Kia’s upcoming flagship sedan. The Kia VG concept has leaked onto the web and will debut at the Seoul Motor Show later this week. It’s one of these concept-in-name-only deals, so look for the production version to hit South Korean showrooms in September, with a North American arrival in Spring, 2010. Power for the front-driver will range from the 2.4-liter four we’ll be seeing a lot of in the coming months, to the 3.8-liter Lambda V6 in what’s likely to be the range-topping torque-steer special. Looks nice, too. Kia’s increasingly-formidable, value-priced lineup gets better with each new announcement. We’ve gone from the likes of the Sephia to this? Impressive. We’ll have more on the VG concept once it makes its debut this week.
